Tucson Weather Year Round

Three facts to hold onto: winters average in the high 60s, summers average over 100°F, and the sun shines on roughly 350 days a year. Everything else is scheduling.

The monsoon (June 15 – September 30)

Arizona's official monsoon season brings the year's only real rain — dramatic afternoon storms that flood desert washes and cool the evenings. Newcomers learn two rules fast: never drive through a flooded wash (it becomes a crime if you need rescue — the "Stupid Motorist Law" is real), and watch the sky before heading out on a July hike.

How locals actually schedule

June–September: outdoors before 10am, evenings after sunset, afternoons in A/C. October–May: everything, everywhere, all day. Mt. Lemmon — an hour up and 30° cooler — is the summer escape valve, and the desert in February makes the whole trade worthwhile. See what there is to do in it all year.
